The play presents Henrietta Szold, a brilliant and ambitious girl living in Baltimore in the late 19th century. The young Henrietta’s world clashes between her family’s Jewry and the liberal American society. In her attempt to integrate, she distances herself from her family and dreams of enrolling at the university, however encounters hostile treatment and anti-semitism. The discovery of her father’s secret work with Jewish refugees changes her world as she joins him and makes her first steps as a Jewish leader. “Henrietta”is a fascinating and touching story about a girl who saved thousands and grew up to be one of the most important female leaders in the history of the Jewish people.
